WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg suffered a legitimate concussion back in the middle of 2019 in a match against The Undertaker. Under new WWE protocol that left him out of commission until SummerSlam, but that was in a quick skirmish against Dolph Ziggler which ended as quick as it began, indicating that maybe big ol’ Bill wasn’t ready for heavy action. After another sabbatical Goldberg returned for Super ShowDown and defeated The Fiend to win the Universal Championship for the second time in his WWE career. At the next SmackDown he issued a challenge to any takers, which was taken by Roman Reigns.
Some experts point to a Goldberg win for WrestleMania 36, to put a final feather in the cap of an icon, but there are a few variables to consider here. His opponent is younger, hungrier, and being fast tracked (again) by the WWE of late. Then there’s the Rob Gronkowski factor. Three-time WWE Champion Roman Reigns is coming off of a January 2020 win at the Royal Rumble where Reigns defeated King Corbin in a falls-count-anywhere affair. He almost walked away with a Royal Rumble event win to boot but Drew McIntyre stole that away from him. The American-Italian-Samoan scored another win against Corbin at the most recent Super ShowDown, which inspired him to show up at the following night’s SmackDown to accept the gauntlet thrown down by Goldberg.
Writer’s Prediction
Roman Reigns reigns supreme, taking down Goldberg.
