Team Strengths:
Gonzaga (+1,100) is doing just about everything well this season. The Zags offense – led by Wooden Award contender Nigel Williams-Goss (16.4 points, 4.7 assists) – is 11th in the country at 85.2 PPG, while their defense is 8th at 61.1 PPG. They are 6th in offensive efficiency per KenPom.com, and 3rd in defense – the only team in the country in the top 10 in both categories. They’ve been particularly elite in limiting opponents from beyond the arc. They’re allowing opponents to shoot just 29 percent from deep, the 2nd-lowest percentage in the country.
Team Weaknesses:
The Zags aren’t much of a 3-point shooting team. Although they have a decent percentage (38%), they take just under 20 per game, which is 228th in the country. They don’t shoot too many 3s in part because they don’t need to, but it remains to be seen whether they actually have that in their arsenal if they find themselves down big in the tourney.
