The Green Bay Packers are 1-0-1 through the first two weeks of the season, but it feels as though they are facing an uphill climb with superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers operating with a banged-up body. Rodgers and the Packers will look to keep their heads above water next week when they visit the Washington Redskins, who are coming off a tough loss to the Indianapolis Colts.
In today’s NFL Futures, the Packers are +1,200 to win Super Bowl 53, while the Redskins are listed at +6,000.

Betting on the Green Bay Packers (1-0-1)
The Packers can be considered lucky for only coming away with a 29-29 tie with the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. The Vikings had a golden chance to take home the win and take down the Packers, but Minnesota kicker Daniel Carlson muffed what could’ve been a game-winning field goal attempt in overtime. Aaron Rodgers being good despite one good leg can’t be considered luck for Green Bay. Rodgers is simply an incredibly gifted player, and against the stout Minnesota defense, the future Hall of Famer went 30 of 42 for a touchdown with zero interceptions. The challenge for the Packers is keeping Rodgers on his feet, as they can’t afford him to get hurt. Rodgers was sacked four times for a loss of 28 yards against Minnesota and will face a Washington defense that ranks first against the pass. Rodgers could get help on offense with running back Aaron Jones scheduled to get back in action after serving a two-week suspension. Jones had 448 rushing yards and four rushing scores last year.
The Packers are 7-2-1 ATS in their last 10 meetings with the Redskins.
Betting on the Washington Redskins (1-1)
Whatever excitement the Redskins generated from their Week 1’s annihilation of the Arizona Cardinals was gone in Week 2 following a 21-9 home loss to the Indianapolis Colts. After a scintillating season debut against the Cards, Redskins quarterback Alex Smith managed to pass for 292 yards (33/46) with zero touchdowns and no interceptions opposite the Colts. Running back Adrian Peterson wasn’t able to find gaps to exploit, as he was limited to only 20 rushing yards on 11 carries. Smith and Peterson, however, can bounce right back up and run a smoother attack against Green Bay’s defense that ranks just 24th against the pass and 18th against the run so far this season. The Packers are also 22nd in scoring defense with 26.0 points allowed per contest. The Redskins’ pass rush needs to be active and effective against Green Bay in order to rattle a seemingly damaged Aaron Rodgers.
The Redskins, who are averaging 16.5 points this season, are 3-1 ATS in their last four home games.
Writer’s Prediction
Green Bay wins, 27-24.
