The Montreal Alouettes host the Hamilton Tiger Cats this Friday with both teams eyeing a bounce-back win following respective losses last week. Speaking of Week 7, what’s with Manziel not playing after his trade from the latter to the former? Perhaps head coach Mike Sherman will give the fans what they want in Week 8, even if it’s simply to satisfy morbid curiosity. Montreal is last in the East with a 1-5 record but a win over Montreal could move them into a tie for second place in the division.

Betting on the Hamilton Tiger Cats (2-4)
The Tiger Cats are still struggling. They have not won since Week 4, and are currently on a three-game skid following a 21-15 loss to the Redblacks at home last week. Hamilton quarterback Jeremiah Masoli uncorked 352 passing yards on 26 of 38 pass completions but only had a touchdown pass to show to go with an interception. Ottawa boasts of one of the best defenses in the league, and it used its stop unit to frazzle Masoli, who was sacked five times by the Redblacks’ stop unit. Masoli should find more consistency more time to look for his targets downfield next time around, as the Alouettes are wallowing in the bottom of the rankings in terms of scoring defense. Masoli is second in the CFL with 1,914 passing yards, though, he only has five touchdown passes thus far this season.
Hamilton is 7-2 ATS in its last nine road games.
Betting on the Montreal Alouettes (1-5)
This coming Friday’s game carries some additional level of hype because of the possibility of Johnny Manziel playing his first regular-season CFL game. That it could come against his former team only intensifies the anticipation. That said, Alouettes head coach might opt to keep Johnny Football on the bench AGAIN, as the quarterback tries to assimilate himself in his new surroundings. If that’s the case, Montreal will most likely start Vernon Adams under center again. The former Oregon Duck signal-caller completed just 15 of 28 passes for 217 yards with zero touchdowns and an interception in a 44-23 loss at home to Edmonton last week. Regardless of who will start as quarterback for Montreal, the Alouettes need to fix their pass protection after allowing six sacks to Edmonton.
Montreal is 18-4 SU in its last 22 home games against Hamilton.
Writer’s Prediction
Hamilton wins, 28-24.
