How much will McGregor and Mayweather Jr. pocket off of this fight?

There are still no definite figures for just how much both fighters are going to respectively make. If you’re waiting for an announcement to address that, though, well, don’t waste your time refreshing your Twitter feed. McGregor and Mayweather have agreed upon the confidentiality of their profits for this upcoming fight back when the two signed the contract, which means, we’re going to be just left with rough estimates and speculations.

Since the fight is boxing and the bigger star is Mayweather, it just stands to reason that the undefeated boxer is going to get the larger slice of the money pie. The size of that slice for Mayweather is expected by some to be around 70 to 75 percent. According to Luke Brown of The Independent, the total purse for this megabout could be as high as $500. Even with a smaller share, McGregor’s going to make enough to hoard all tickets of two U2 concert tours.

If you ask Boxing Kingdom, the total purse of this collision between McGregor and Mayweather could be break past the $600 million level, assuming that the pay-per-view numbers are hit.

In other words, those appraisals are bound to easily break the record set by the Floyd Mayweather-Manny Pacquiao fight two years ago, when both Hall-of-Fame bound pugs generated $410 million. With that amount of money, Mayweather could make a great leap towards his dream of purchasing his own NBA team and McGregor likely climbing several notches in the rankings of richest athletes today.
