A week after Ben Roethlisberger sent them to the trauma ward, the Indianapolis Colts now return to work, looking to recover from their ugly loss at the hands of the Pittsburgh Steelers. The New York Giants, meanwhile, are coming off a bye week, which they hope will help the team prevent a three-game skid after losing back-to-back to the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles. Betting on the Indianapolis Colts
[sc:NFL240banner ]With the way the Colts defended last week, even Ben Roethlisberger’s wife could have scored on them. The Colts’ defense, which starred during the team’s five-game win streak, was a big letdown in Indianapolis’ embarrassing 51-34 loss against Pittsburgh Sunday, allowing the Steelers’ offense to compile 639 total yards.
Prior to the game, the Colts’ defense was hyped to reduce Roethlisberger down to a pulp, having recorded 21 sacks since the start of the season. But the pressure that put previous opposing QBs on a chokehold was simply not there for the Colts, who saw Big Ben complete 40 of 49 passes for 522 yards and six touchdowns without a single interception thrown. Although the Giants don’t have as much weapons in their passing game as Pittsburgh, handing two-time Super Bowl winner Eli Manning close to 40 minutes of possession time (the same amount of time Indianapolis gave to the Steelers) could cue another Colts’ downfall.
Remarkably, despite having possession of the ball for just 20 minutes against the Steelers, Indianapolis was still able to rack up a ton of yards, largely because of Andrew Luck, who passed for 400 yards and three touchdowns. Luck is in line for another huge game as he goes up against the Giants’ poor passing defense that ranks 25th in the NFL with 262.4 yards allowed per outing. The marching order for the Colts next Sunday is simple– keep the Giants’ offense off the field and let Andrew Luck do the rest of the beating.
The Colts are 5-1 ATS in their last six games.

Betting on the New York Giants
Quarterback Tony Romo laid out the latest example of how porous the Giants’ defense is when he passed for 279 yards and three TDs in the Dallas Cowboys’ 31-21 win in Week 7. Hopefully for the Giants, the extra week of rest they had is enough to find a solution for Andrew Luck, the NFL’s pacesetter in passing yards and touchdowns.
The Giants already have one solid QB stopper in Jason Pierre-Paul, who leads the team with 3.5 sacks, two of which were administered on Romo. But without much help coming from the injury-riddled secondary, the Giants were left eating the dust of Dez Bryant, who collected 151 receiving yards on nine catches.
Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (back), who barely played last week against Dallas, should benefit from a two-week rest. However, if the cornerback fails to show up on the field, then that leaves CB Prince Amukamara and safety Antrel Rolle with large responsibilities to contain Luck’s targets down the field, particularly T.Y. Hilton and Donte Moncrief, who combined for 268 receiving yards and two TDs against Pittsburgh. Amukamara and Rolle each has three interceptions to lead the team.
On offense, the injuries of Victor Cruz and pass-catching running back Rashad Jennings and the inconsistency of Larry Donnell puts rookie wideout Odell Beckham Jr. in a bigger spotlight. Beckham has been impressive in three games played thus far this season and is proving to be another reliable option for Manning. He caught two TD passes against Dallas, his third in as many games.
The Giants are 3-1 ATS and SU in their last four games.
Writer’s Prediction
Andrew Luck and the Colts (-3.5) bounce back, as they beat the Giants, 35-24.
