Betting on the Iowa State Cyclones (+10.5)
Record: 4-7 Overall / 1-7 Conference
Iowa State no longer has a shot to be bowl eligible, as it can only max out with five wins no matter what happens the rest of the season. That said, the Cyclones would still love to finish their otherwise forgettable campaign with a victory, especially against a heavy favorite with a clear path to the CFP. Iowa State isn’t winning games, but it is playing with pride. While they are not scoring a lot, the Cyclones have allowed just 34 points in their last two games and just a few weeks ago, lost by only three points to then-No. 22 Texas Longhorns in Austin. TCU should beat the Cyclones, but who knows if the Cyclones manage to capitalize on any signs of complacency on the part of the Horned Frogs.
Iowa State is 23-11-1 against the spread in its last 35 games after a loss.
Betting on the TCU Horned Frogs (-10.5)
Record: 11-0 Overall / 8-0 Conference
The Horned Frogs were given a major scare by Baylor over the weekend, but that seemed to have also come at the perfect time for them to get a wakeup call, with just one more game remaining on their regular-season schedule. Max Duggan passed for 327 yards and a touchdown with an interception on 24/35 completions versus Baylor, while also rushing for 50 yards and a touchdown on eight carries. TCU’s offense can easily look too much to handle for Cyclones even if it appears as thbough Iowa State has done decently the past couple of weeks. The Horned Frogs entered Week 12 ranked 11th in the nation with 37.5 points per game.
TCU is 4-1 against the spread in its last 5 games after a win.
Writer’s Prediction
TCU wins, 34-14.
