Betting on the Jaume Munar (+800)

Munar played in his Grand Slam debut and did not waste time making his mark, eking out a win in five sets over veteran David Ferrer, 3-6, 3-6, 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (7-4), 7-5. The 21-year-old Spaniard put 62 percent of his first serves in and won 67 points off of those serves. He also won 47 percent of his second serve points.  The win over Ferrer should definitely serve as a morale and confidence booster for Munar, who, as mentioned, only has one Grand Slam match played under his belt. He’s going to need all the confidence he can have ahead of a showdown in a future Hall of Famer in the form of Novak Djokovic. While he’s barely old enough to buy alcohol, Munar and his young legs might be feeling a little tired after a marathon match with Ferrer, so it’s going to be interesting how energetic he’ll be against Djokovic.

Betting on the Novak Djokovic (-1500)

Unlike Munar, Djokovic did not have to play a marathon to get out of the first round, as it only took him three sets to eliminate Rodgerio Dutra Silva, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4. Djokovic put 29 percent of his first serves in and won 53 points off of his first serves. While he allowed Silva to break his serve in the first game, Djokovic was not really threatened the rest of the way, even breaking serve six times. Djokovic seems to be in top form at Roland Garros after making a deep run at the Rome Masters in which he reached the semifinals of that clay-court tournament. Djokovic, who won the French Open back in 2016, is looking like his dominant self again, which sounds danger for his future opponents, especially to the young and inexperienced ones like Munar. Welcome to the real world, Munar.

Writer’s Prediction
