Betting on the Kansas City Chiefs (-5.5)
Regular Season Record: 3-3
The Chiefs haven’t looked this vulnerable before during the Patrick Mahomes era, but their 31-13 victory on the road over the Washington Football Team last Sunday could be the spark Kansas City needs to get going for good. Mahomes, who passed for 397 yards and two touchdowns and two interceptions on 32/47 completions against Washington, needs to cut down on his turnovers. That’s been an issue for him this season, but he could get away in Week 7 with a much cleaner performance, considering that the Titans are just 26th in the league with 0.8 takeaways per game. And even though the Chiefs are missing Clyde Edwards-Helaire, who’s on the injured reserve list, they can turn to Darrell Williams to lead the rushing attack. Williams picked up 62 rushing yards and a couple of touchdowns on 21 carries against Washington. Tennessee’s defense shouldn’t be too intimidating for the Chiefs to see their offense regress in Week 7.
The Chiefs are 5-2 ATS in their last seven Week 7 games.
Betting on the Tennessee Titans (+5.5)
Regular Season Record: 4-2
One man can flip the script of any game in favor of Tennessee, and the Titans will be looking to ride on him again this week. That’s no other than running back Derrick Henry, who used the Buffalo Bills’ defense as a rag to clean the dirt on his cleats after rushing for 143 yards and three touchdowns on 20 carries. Henry is arguably the most unstoppable force in the NFL today. He is simply having his way against any defenses, and after doing that to the Bills, what’s going to stop Titans fans from believing he can torch Kansas City’s stop unit? The Chiefs are only 3-3 after six weeks in large part because of their defense that is currently ranked 28th in the league with 29.3 points allowed per game and 27th with 133.2 rushing yards surrendered per contest. Henry could have another huge game, if not bigger than the one he showed in Week 6, against Kansas City.
The Titans are 4-1 against the spread in their last five games overall.
Writer’s Prediction
The Chiefs win, 34-21.
