Betting on the Kansas Jayhawks (11-3)
The Jayhawks began this season on a mission to win a record 14th straight conference title, but that new year resolution took a big hit with a surprise loss to Texas Tech on Tuesday. Now normally an 11-3 record would be something to take some pride in, but for the Kansas b-ball program there is cause for concern as the cracks in their armor are becoming increasingly apparent. Will the loss to Texas Tech (ranked #18) become one of more to similar foes, such as TCU (ranked #16) who they meet this Saturday? If Kansas wants to keep Big 12 title hopes alive, Bill Self needs to get his game in gear starting with a big win against the Horned Frogs this weekend.
Betting on the TCU Horned Frogs (13-1)
No. 16 TCU is playing the biggest game in their program’s in history when they hosts No. 10 Kansas on Saturday. TCU fans and bettors alike are loving the Horned Frogs’ inclusion in the Big 12 which is why games are selling out on a weekly basis and sportsbooks are raking in the wagers.
Of course, everyone remembers TCU’s upset over Kansas last March in the Big 12 Tournament. That was a shocker then, but now with a 13-1 record and a solid ranking, TCU is looking to prove they’re no fluke, and many people are buying in. Even KU’s head coach Bill Self is making prophetic statements about TCU:
“I think it’s a pretty apparent what they’ve done. They’re definitely one of the deeper teams in our league. They’re much, much better this year because they’ve added some nice pieces that fit in so well. I think TCU is here to stay.” (Bill Self – Kansas Jayhawks Head Coach)
If TCU takes this Saturday night game against the Jayhawks they will indeed prove their right to play with the big boys.
Writer’s Prediction
This will be a defining moment for both programs, at least for this season. But Kansas has everything to lose while TCU is looking to prove, but not with the same necessity. Early indicators show bettors are split at the sportsbook, but as game time approaches cooler heads will prevail and the Kansas Jayhawks will renew their Big 12 title campaign with a defining win over the TCU Horned Frogs. Pick: Kansas Jayhawks to win and cover.
