Betting on the Los Angeles Angels (78-79)
Pitching for the Angels today is Bud Norris. Throughout his 59 innings and 2-6 record for the year, Norris has managed a 4.42 ERA, including 70 Ks.
LA has some notable at bats this year so far. Andrelton Simmons entered yesterday with 160 hits, 75 runs, 14 homers and 68 RBIs while Albert Pujols entered with 139 hits, 52 runs, 23 homers and 100 RBIs. Simmons chalked up two hits and an RBI on Wednesday, and Pujols logged a pair of hits himself. Expect them to take the momentum through to tonight’s game.
Betting on the Chicago White Sox (64-93)
Pitching for the White Sox in the series finale is Dylan Covey. The right-hander is still seeking his first major league victory after 11 starts and six relief appearances. Covey’s getting close, though, with the 26-year-old producing his first career quality start in his last effort against the Royals on Saturday. He allowed three runs on five hits in six innings of action in Chicago’s 8-2 loss to Kansas City.
Given Covey’s erratic form, the White Sox offense will need to stand tall against the Angels tonight. One guy who’s swinging the bat well for Chicago is Jose Abreu. The first baseman is 7-of-20 in his last five games with two homers and four RBIs. The Cuban star is having his best season since his rookie year, leading the team in homers (33), RBIs (102) and hits (185) this campaign.
Writer’s Prediction
The Angels (-185) edge past the White Sox, 5-3.
