Starters: Chris Archer (2-3, 5.64 ERA) vs. Tyler Skaggs (3-2, 3.07 ERA)

Pitching:

Chris Archer absorbed a loss to Baltimore on May 12 on the road when the Rays were defeated by the Orioles, 6-3. Archer allowed six earned runs on seven hits in seven innings on the mound in that game. Archer owns a 5-1 record to go with a 2.55 ERA in seven starts vs. the Halos. The Angels, meanwhile, will send Tyler Skaggs to the mound. Skaggs hasn’t won in his last three starts but has a 2.28 ERA in his previous four outings.

Hitting:

  • Albert Pujols is 6-for-15 vs. Archer
  • The Rays are fourth in the majors with a .269 batting average against lefties.

Starters: Blake Snell (4-3, 3.12 ERA) vs. Nick Tropeano (1-2,3.64 ERA)

Pitching:

Blake Snell was roughed up for five earned runs on six hits including three solo homers in just 3.1 innings of duty on May 13’s 17-1 road loss to Baltimore. Prior to that, though, Snell has not allowed more than two earned runs in each of his previous six starts. As for Nick Tropeano, he gave up three earned runs on five hits in six innings of a 5-3 home loss to Minnesota on May 12, his last outing on the mound. In two career starts against Tampa Bay, Tropeano has a 0-1 record to go with a 4.35 ERA.

Hitting:

  • The current Angels’ hitters have a collective batting average of .357 vs. Snell.
  • Brad Miller is 3-for-9 vs. Tropeano.

Tampa Bay wins, 4-3.

Starters: Ryan Yarbrough (3-2, 3.93 ERA) vs. Andrew Heaney (2-2, 3.93 ERA)

Pitching:

Ryan Yarbrough did a fine job in his last outing, surrendering just an earned run on five hits in five innings of a 2-1 road win over Kansas City on May 14. He is 2-1 with a 3.60 ERA in two starts and three total appearances this May. Over in LA, Heaney is coming an eye-opening performance in a 2-1 win over the Houston Astros at home on May 14, as he allowed just an earned run on four hits while striking out 10 in eight innings of action. He has a 1.80 ERA in his last four starts.

Hitting:

  • The Rays are fourth in the majors with a .269 batting average against lefties.
  • The Angels are 15th in the majors with a .249 batting average against lefties.

Starters: TBA vs. Shohei Ohtani (3-1, 3.58 ERA)

Pitching:

Shohei Ohtani was sensational on the mound in his last start, fanning out 11 hitters and allowing only an earned run on three hits in 6.1 innings of a 2-1 win at home over Minnesota on May 13. Ohtani paces all AL rookie hurlers in strikeouts with 43.

LA wins, 4-3.
