The Chargers sent the rest of the league a memo, reminding all teams just how explosive their offense is. That memo came in the form of a 41-37 home win against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 11. Justin Herbert was money for Los Angeles. He went 30/41 for 382 passing yards, three touchdowns, and an interception. Not only that, but he also led his team with 90 rushing yards on nine carries. Meanwhile, running back Austin Ekeler scored four total touchdowns, two rushing and two receiving. The Chargers are a problem, with Herbert a constant threat to explode. They must be salivating over the prospect of facing a Denver team that had just been chopped up by the Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles and is currently just 27th in the NFL in opponents’ third-down conversion rate.
The Chargers are 4-1 against the spread in their last five games as a road favorite.
Betting on the Denver Broncos (+2.5)
Regular Season Record: 5-5
One thing about the Broncos is that they are well-rested. They got a much-needed rest in Week 11 thanks to a bye after getting taken down by the Philadelphia Eagles at home in Week 10 to the tune of a 30-13 score. That loss was a total bummer for the Broncos, who, prior to that, were on a two-game win streak, having defeated the Washington Football Team in Week 8 at home (17-10) and the Dallas Cowboys on the road in Week 9 (30-16). Nevertheless, the Broncos are looking to put lots of points on the Chargers’ defense. Los Angeles put up over 40 points in Week 11, but the Chargers also gave up a ton of points to the Steelers. On the season, Denver is averaging 20 points and 342.1 total yards per game.
The Broncos are 9-1 against the spread in their last 10 games after scoring fewer than 15 points in their previous contest.
Writer’s Prediction
The Chargers win, 28-20.
