Betting on the Los Angeles Chargers (+6)
Regular Season Record: 1-1
The Chargers are coming off a loss to the San Francisco 49ers in Week 2 of the preseason, 15-10. Before that, the Bolts scored a 13-6 win over the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium. Despite the loss to the Rams, the Chargers showed plenty of intrigue in that game, particularly because of the backup quarterback battle between Easton Stick and Chase Daniel. Stil went 10 of 14 for 85 passing yards and a touchdown. Daniels was 14 of 21 for 60 yards with zero touchdowns and an interception. Stick may have the slim lead in this race, but Daniel could get in front with one solid showing this coming Saturday in Seattle. In any case, both quarterbacks should be able to have some level of success against the Seahawks’ defense that allowed 50 points over the last two preseason weeks.
The Chargers are 3-0 against the spread in their last three preseason games.
Betting on the Seattle Seahawks (-6)
Regular Season Record: 0-2
Although the Seahawks are still winless in the preseason and had just suffered a 30-3 walloping at the hands of the Denver Broncos in Week 2, there’s hope for the team to get it right before the regular season. Even the defense that has been trampled upon the last two weeks has been showing some promise. Take for example Jordyn Brooks, who paced Seattle with seven total tackles in the Broncos game. The Seahawks also limited Denver to just 63 rushing yards on 31 carries. That’s just 2.0 rushing yards per attempt for the Broncos. On offense, don’t expect to see Russell Wilson on the field against Los Angeles. The Seahawks will continue to use the pair of Sean Mannion and Alex McGough under center. Mannion was 13 of 23 for 118 passing yards against Denver, while McGough was 9 of 13 but got picked off twice.
The under is 4-0 in the Seahawks’ last four games in the preseason, dating back to 2019.
Writer’s Prediction
The Seahawks win, 19-16.
