Betting on the Los Angeles Lakers (+4.5)

Regular Season Record: 43-39

The Lakers booked their ticket to the second round, thanks to their whopping of the Memphis Grizzlies in the first round. The Lakers threw Memphis out of title contention in just six games, capped by a 40-point beating in Game 6 last Friday. At 38 years old, LeBron James is still a valuable member and contributor to the Lakers, who are averaging 112.2 points so far in the playoffs. Anthony Davis is definitely going to be a major factor for the Lakers in the Warriors series, but don’t sleep on the likes of D’Angelo Russell, Dennis Schroder, Austin Reaves, and Rui Hachimura.

The Lakers are 8-3 against the spread in their last 11 games versus a team with a winning record.

Betting on the Golden State Warriors (-4.5)

Regular Season Record: 44-38

The Warriors are still alive. They are still defending the crown they won a year ago after winning their first-round series against the Sacramento Kings in seven games. In Game 7 of that series, Stephen Curry exploded for 50 points on 20/38 shooting from the field to show the way for the Warriors to a 120-100 win. That’s also a strong warning from the two-time league MVP to the Lakers. So far in the playoffs, Curry is averaging 33.7 points on 48.8 percent shooting from the field and 37.8 percent from behind the arc. As a team, the Warriors are generating 115.9 points per game in the postseason.

The Warriors are 8-2 against the spread in their last 10 home games versus a team with a losing record on the road.

Writer’s Prediction

The Warriors win, 115-110.
