Betting on the Loyola-Chicago Ramblers – March Madness 2018
Sister Jean and the mighty Ramblers are not done destroying brackets. This is after they set on fire millions of already burned brackets Thursday night, when Loyola-Chicago took down seven-seed Nevada, 69-68. After three-straight upset wins in the tournament, there should be no more doubts about how legitimate Loyola-Chicago is, especially its defense. The Ramblers finished the regular season fourth in scoring defense with only 62.0 points allowed per game, and so far in the Big Dance, they have held each of their first three opponents to 62, 62, and 68 points. Nevada averaged over 80 points prior to the tournament but failed to touch 70 points on a poor 41.4 percent shooting from the field. Marques Townes led the Ramblers in the Nevada game with 18 points, including the dagger three-point shot late in the game, while Clayotn Custer chipped in 15 markers.
Betting on the Kansas State Wildcats – March Madness 2018
Somehow, Kansas State has found a way to go this deep in the tournament despite its best player on the bench– and that’s mostly because of the exploits of one of its top pieces. Dean Wade, the Wildcats’ leading scorer and rebounder, sat out the first two rounds of the tournament and played minimal minutes Thursday in K-State’s 61-58 win over Kentucky. He only scored four points with one rebound, but the Wildcats were able to defeat a talented Kentucky squad thanks in large part to the 22 points from Xavier Sneed. Sneed only had eight points in the second-round win over UMBC, but hit timely shots in the clutch in that game. Even though Wade barely played, it was a good sign in terms of his availability against Loyola-Chicago. With or without Wade, Kansas State will have to avoid getting killed on the glass after Kentucky outrebounded Bruce Weber’s boys, 38-29.
Writer’s Prediction
Kansas State stops the madness of Loyola-Chicago with a 73-69 win.
