Betting on Madison Brengle
[sc:AUS15-250 ]World No. 49 Madison Brengle will be looking to make more noise at Melbourne Park this year. The 25-year-old American managed to make it all the way to the fourth round of the 2015 Australian Open before eventually bowing out to Madison Keys. Brengle will be hoping for a better finish this time around and ultimately climb her way back up into the top of the rankings.
Standing in her way first is a familiar foe in the form of World No. 42 Coco Vandeweghe. The two met each other in last year’s Australian Open, during which Brengle captured the easy 6-3,6-2 win to advance to the Round of 16. Brengle’s service game proved to be the game-changer in that one, as she won 61% of her first serve points and 59% of her second serve points while Vandeweghe won just 50% in both departments.
That win should arguably be enough to give Brengle some confidence back especially after losing six of her last 10 matches on the hardcourt. Some of those losses, though, included tough matchups against the likes of No. 3 Angelique Kerber, No. 13 Belinda Bencic and No.23 Ana Ivanovic.
Brengle is 2-2 overall opposite Vandeweghe.

Betting on Coco Vandeweghe
Coco Vandeweghe won’t just be carrying revenge on her mind after being ousted by Brengle last year; she will also be oozing with confidence thanks to a solid campaign last season.
Vandeweghe’s 2015 campaign was highlighted by her best Grand Slam result at Wimbledon. She surprised many by defeating formidable opponents like Anna Karolina Schmiedlova, Karolina Pliskova, Samantha Stosur and Lucie Safarova before falling in three sets to Maria Sharapova in the quarterfinals (6-3, 6-7(3) 6-2).
Vangeweghe is known to have one of the most lethal serves on tour, which makes her a very dangerous opponent. That superb service game was clearly on full display last year, during which she ranked among the top 10 fastest servers in the world. That said, expect her to keep blasting her way through each set and eventually wear out Madison Brengle down the stretch.
Vandewegh is 4-6 in her previous 10 matches.
Writer’s Prediction
Vandewegh (-140) wins it in three sets.
