Betting on Magdalena Rybarikova
Rybarikova is out here in New York in search for her first career Grand Slam title. She’s also here to prove that her upset win over Pliskova in Wimbledon this year wasn’t a fluke.
It could be recalled that Rybarikova sent Pliskova crashing out of the Wimbledon when he handed the Czech a 6-3, 5-7, 2-6 loss in the second round of that tournament. Now that the two are meeting again, Rybarikova will enter the match as the slim favorite to topple Pliskova again. The 28-year-old Slovakian is having his best year of her career, as she’s already won four singles titles in 2017 and has taken home close to $850,000 in earnings.
Rybarikova is off to a good start in the US Open, as she defeated Camila Giorgi in the first round, 6-3, 6-4.
Betting on Kristyna Pliskova
It goes without saying that Pliskova is seeking for revenge in Wednesday’s showdown with Rybarikova. She’ll be able to try taking down Rybarikova with fresher legs than her opponent, as Pliskova had a first-round bye.
Pliskova was last seen on a hard court going down in the semifinals of the recently concluded Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati, losing to Garbine Muguruza, 3-6, 2-6. That being said, she’ll be kicking off her 2017 US Open campaign boasting a runner-up finish in this event a year ago. It was the first time in four tries that Pliskova has been able to get past the third round, so she’ll be hoping that that was a signal for a positive trend for her in the New York-based Grand Slam tournament moving forward.
Pliskova has three titles this year, beginning the season with a title run in Brisbane back in January, running the table in Qatar last February, and topping the field in England back in July.
Pliskova (+130) gets here revenge with a win in three sets.
