New York Yankees vs. Detroit Tigers (7:00 PM ET)
Line: New York Yankees (+150) at Detroit Tigers (-170); total: 7.5– see all MLB lines
[sc:MLB240banner ]After stopping the Yankees’ winning streak, it’s now Detroit’s turn to extend its own, as they start David Price (12-9, 3.00 ERA) in the second game of the series. Counting his days in Tampa Bay Rays uniform, Price’s teams are 3-0 in his last three starts against the Yankees. New York, meanwhile, will have Shane Greene (3-1, 3.17) on the mound. Greene is 1-0 with a 3.04 ERA in four starts this August. The Yankees are 4-0 in his last four road starts.
Writer’s prediction: Detroit wins.
Tampa Bay Rays vs. Baltimore Orioles (7:05 PM ET)

It’s home sweet home for the Orioles, who are now 4-0 in their last four games at Camden Yards following their 4-2 victory against Tampa Bay last night. To make it five in a row, the O’s must overcome Drew Smyly (8-10, 3.42 ERA), who’s been solid for Tampa Bay since being traded from Detroit. Smyly has a 2-1 record to go along with an authoritative ERA mark of 1.55 in his last three starts, including a complete game shutout in the Rays’ 8-0 win against the Toronto Blue Jays last August 22nd.
Writer’s prediction: Tampa Bay wins.
Atlanta Braves vs. New York Mets (7:10 PM ET)

The Braves turn to Julio Teheran (12-9, 2.96 ERA), as they try to avoid losing four straight games when they take on the Mets tonight. Teheran is 2-0 in his last two starts with an ERA of 1.50. He tossed six innings of shutout baseball in his most recent start – an 8-0 win for the Braves against Cincinnati last August 21st. As for the Mets, they’ll start Zack Wheeler (9-8, 3.48 ERA), who has a 4-0 record and a 2.05 ERA in his last four starts at Citi Field.

If they were to decide, the Red Sox would probably want to stay on the road for the meantime based on their 5-0 record in the last five road games. The Red Sox will attempt a road sweep of Toronto, which has gone 0-3 in its last three games and just 6-14 in the last 20 overall. Marcus Stroman (7-5, 4.11 ERA) takes the ball tonight for the Blue Jays, who are 3-1 in the Duke-product’s last four home starts.

Madison Bumgarner showed how it’s done on the mound last night with a near perfect game in the Giants’ 3-0 win against Colorado. It’s going to be a tough act to follow for Tim Hudson (9-9, 2.99 ERA), but Giants bettors should find confidence in the team’s 3-1 record in Hudson’s last four starts overall. Hudson will be matched up against Franklin Morales (5-7, 5.32 ERA), who is 1-0 with a 2.77 ERA in his last two starts against the Giants. The Rockies are also 8-1 in Morales’ last nine starts against National League West clubs.
