The Atlanta Braves won the first two games of the series against the Colorado Rockies, but lost the third, 8-2. They will try to bounce back strong against winless Rockies starter Jhoulys Chacin (0-4, 5.35 ERA). The Braves own a strong 8-2 record in their last 10 games against Colorado. Meanwhile, the over is 4-1-1 in the Rockies’ last six home games.
Writer’s prediction: The Braves win big and take the series 3-1.
Toronto Blue Jays vs. Baltimore Orioles (7:05 PM ET)
Line: Toronto Blue Jays (-102) at Baltimore Orioles (-108); total 8.5 – view all MLB lines
Starter Mark Buehrle (10-2, 2.04 ERA) is one of the Blue Jays’ most consistent pitchers. The Blue Jays are 8-2 in his last 10 starts, in which he allowed just 2.1 earned runs per game. On the other hand, Baltimore is hitting .206 in their last five games.
Writer’s prediction: Toronto will continue their domination of the AL East with a comfortable win against the Orioles.
Detroit Tigers vs. Chicago White Sox (8:10 PM ET)
Line: Detroit Tigers (+102) at Chicago White Sox (-122); total 7.0 – view all MLB lines
The Detroit Tigers are in a rut once more having lost their last three games. Included in those three games are back-to-back losses against the Chicago White Sox. The most recent loss came against a White Sox team that hit .314 for an 8-2 win.
Starting Max Scherzer (7-2, 3.38 ERA) may just be what Detroit needs to end the series on a good note. Scherzer is 10-5 with a 2.57 ERA in 20 career starts against the White Sox.
Writer’s prediction: Detroit will pull out of the gutter with a win against the White Sox.
New York Yankees vs. Seattle Mariners (10:10 PM ET)
Line: New York Yankees (+103) at Seattle Mariners (-113); total 7.0 – view all MLB lines
Yankees starter Chase Whitley (1-0, 2.42 ERA) is particularly good on the road. The Yankees went 4-0 in his last four road starts. On the other hand, the Mariners are starting Roenis Elias (5-4, 3.64). Elias has only started once against the Yankees, putting up a 4-2 win in May.
Writer’s prediction: Whitley extends his road streak while leading the Yankees to a win over the Ms.
