MLB Picks and Predictions for Wednesday, June 26, 2014

Miami Marlins vs. Philadelphia Phillies (7:05 PM ET)

Line: Miami Marlins (+148) at Philadelphia Phillies (-163); total: 7.0– see all MLB lines

[sc:MLB240banner ]After seeing his streak of scoreless innings stop at 24 2/3 on Saturday against the St. Louis Cardinals, Cole Hamels (2-4, 2.76 ERA) aims to get back on track. The Phillies are 3-1 in his last four starts, while the Marlins are 4-1 in their last five meetings with Philadelphia.

Writer’s Prediction: Marlins beat Phillies.

Detroit Tigers vs. Texas Rangers (8:05 PM ET)

Line: Detroit Tigers (-143) at Texas Rangers (+133); total: 10.0 – see all MLB lines

Miguel Cabrera

The Detroit Tigers are on a tear. Thanks to their smoking offense, the Tigers have stitched together an impressive winning streak. They are 6-0 in their last six games, while averaging 6.5 runs per game during that span. It’s the complete opposite for the Texas Rangers, who are 0-7 in their last seven games, and have given up 41 runs in their last five. The over is 4-1 in their last five home games.

Writer’s Prediction: Tigers continue to sizzle, defeat Rangers. Create a betting account now and take a chance to profit on this intriguing matchup.

Washington Nationals vs. Chicago Cubs (8:05 PM ET)

Line: Washington Nationals (-125) at Chicago Cubs (+115); total: 8.0 – see all MLB lines

The NL East’s top team meets the NL Central’s bottom-feeders as the Washington Nationals and the Chicago Cubs begin a four-game series at Wrigley Field. The Nats haven’t been scoring well as of late, but they will have Doug Fister (6-2, 2.65 ERA) on the mound. They are 7-1 in Fister’s last eight starts.

The Cubs haven’t been scoring nor pitching well lately. They are 1-4 in their last five games, and have been outscored 20-12 during that stretch. It could have been worse had they not scored seven runs in their 7-3 win versus Cincinnati last Tuesday. Nevertheless, the Cubs have a ray of hope in starter Travis Wood (7-6, 4.55). They are 3-1 in Wood’s last four starts.

Writer’s Prediction: Fister dominates Cubs in another win for the Nationals.

St. Louis Cardinals vs. Los Angeles Dodgers (10:10 PM ET)

Line: St. Louis Cardinals (-117) at Los Angeles Dodgers (+107); total: 6.5 – see all MLB lines

Adam Wainwright (10-3, 2.08 ERA) and Josh Beckett (5-4, 2.28 ERA) face off tonight to open a four-game set between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Los Angeles Dodgers. Wainwright is 2-0 in his last three starts with an ERA of 1.17. The Cards look forward to Wainwright continuing to be in his fine form on the road. They are 4-0 in his last four road starts. Meanwhile, the Dodgers are 3-0 in their last three games.

Writer’s Prediction: Wainwright outduels Beckett, Cards win.

Cincinnati Reds vs. San Francisco Giants (10:15 PM ET)

Line: Cincinnati Reds (+105) at San Francisco Giants (-115); total: 7.0 – see all MLB lines

Ryan Vogelsong (5-3, 4.13 ERA) has a tough act to follow as he starts for the San Francisco Giants after teammate Tim Lincecum threw a no-hitter last night against the San Diego Padres. Going up against the visiting Cincinnati Reds should help his confidence. The Giants are 4-0 in Vogelsong’s last four starts against Cincinnati. On the other hand, the Reds’ Mike Leake (5-6, 3.59 ERA) is 4-1 in his career against San Francisco.

Writer’s Prediction: Reds top Giants.
