Oakland Athletics vs. Baltimore Orioles (7:05 PM ET)
Line: Oakland Athletics (-105) at Baltimore Orioles (-105); total: 9.0– see all MLB lines
[sc:MLB240banner ]The Oakland A’s carry their big bats to Baltimore hoping to recover from a loss to Masahiro Tanaka and the New York Yankees on the road. The best run-producing team in the majors was shackled by Tanaka Thursday night, scoring just one run on eight hits. The total has now hit the under in five of Oakland’s last six road games. Meanwhile, the Orioles look to extend their winning streak. They are 4-0 in their last four games.
Writer’s Prediction: The A’s offense recovers to beats the O’s.
St. Louis Cardinals vs. Toronto Blue Jays (7:07 PM ET)
Line: St. Louis Cardinals (+118) at Toronto Blue Jays (-128); total: 9.5– see all MLB lines
After demolishing the Detroit Tigers in a three-game series sweep–their fourth sweep in the last five series–the Toronto Blue Jays return home to meet the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cards have been wobbly lately, going just 2-7 in their last nine games. They’ll have Lance Lynn (6-3, 3.48 ERA) on the mound tonight. St. Louis is 3-1 in his Lynn’s four starts, while the Blue Jays are 8-2 in their last 10 home games.
Writer’s Prediction: The Blue Jays continue to soar against baseball’s finest.
Boston Red Sox vs. Detroit Tigers (7:10 PM ET)
Line: Boston Red Sox (+114) at Detroit Tigers (-124); total: 8.0– see all MLB lines
One team is sure to stop its nosedive tonight as the Boston Red Sox and the Detroit Tigers meet for the first of a three-game series. The Red Sox, who are still licking their wounds after dropping three straight to the Cleveland Indians, will start righty phenom Rubby De La Rosa (1-0, 0.00 ERA). Meanwhile, the Tigers will have Drew Smyly (2-4, 4.10 ERA). The over is 8-2 in the last 10 games Detroit has faced a right-handed starter.
Writer’s Prediction: Red Sox stop their skid and batter the Tigers.
New York Yankees vs. Kansas City Royals (8:10 PM ET)
Line: New York Yankees (+102) at Kansas City Royals (-112); total: 8.5– see all MLB lines
After Tanaka helped the Bronx Bombers get their first win in the last five games, Chase Whitley (0-0, 2.37 ERA) will look to follow it up with a strong showing of his own. The Yankees are 3-1 in Whitley’s last four starts. The Royals, on the other hand, have Jeremy Guthrie (2-5, 4.00 ERA) on the mound.
Writer’s Prediction: Yankees win their second-straight game.
Atlanta Braves vs. Arizona Diamondbacks (8:05 PM ET)
Line: Atlanta Braves (-115) at Arizona Diamondbacks (+105); total: 8.0– see all MLB lines
With the way the Arizona Diamondbacks have been smashing the ball of late, Atlanta Braves’ ace Julio Teheran (5-3, 1.83 ERA) will have to be at his finest form in order for the Braves to avoid their third loss in a row. Arizona has scored 28 runs in their last two games. The Diamondbacks are 3-0 in their last three games, while the Braves are 8-2 in Teheran’s last 10 starts.
Writer’s Prediction: Teheran stymies the red-hot D’backs.
