But can the Dodgers also solve Doug Fister, who has been terrific in his last few road starts? [sc:MLB240banner ]Detroit’s offense went ballistic last night, as the Tigers beat the Cleveland in the series opener, 12-1. With the win, the Tigers are now 4-0 in their last four games at Progressive Field, while averaging 8.25 runs during that stretch. Tasked to contain Detroit’s offense later is Carlos Carrasco (6-4, 3.01 ERA), who is 3-0 and has a 0.73 ERA in his last four starts. The Indians are 5-1 in their last six games after a loss.

Writer’s prediction: Cleveland wins.

Boston Red Sox vs. New York Yankees (7:05 PM ET)

Shane Greene (4-1, 3.09 ERA) starts tonight for the Yankees, who will begin a nine-game homestand with a series opener against Boston. The Bronx Bombers are 4-0 in their last four home games. They are also undefeated in Greene’s last five appearances on the mound. As for the Red Sox, they’ll hit the Bronx carrying a 7-3 record in their last 10 road games. Boston hasn’t scored more than three runs in any of its last three games, all of which have hit the under.

Writer’s prediction: New York wins.

Pittsburgh Pirates vs. St. Louis Cardinals (8:15 PM ET)

Line: Pittsburgh Pirates (+135) at St. Louis Cardinals (-150); total: 7.0– see all MLB lines

The Cardinals replaced the Milwaukee Brewers atop the National League Central after winning their third straight game last night, a 5-4 victory against Pittsburgh. They can remain at the No. 1 position of the division with another win later against the same team, and with Adam Wainwright (15-9, 2.59 ERA) taking the mound.

The Cards are 6-0 in their last six home games against Pittsburgh. The Pirates, though, have a penchant for winning second games of a series, carving a 15-5 record in the last 20 games under such circumstance. They are also 4-1 in Jeff Locke’s (6-3, 3.51 ERA) last five starts.

Writer’s prediction: St. Louis wins.

Oakland looks to sustain its stout production at the plate after a 6-1 victory in the series opener, and provide Sonny Gray (13-7, 3.03 ERA) ample run support when he takes the ball tonight versus the Mariners. The A’s are 4-0 in Gray’s last four starts against Seattle. Seattle, on the other hand, is a team to watch out for bettors, as it has a strong 11-2 record in its last 13 games after a loss. What’s more, the Mariners will start James Paxton (4-1, 1.83), who is 7-1 with an ERA of 1.71 since 2013.

Writer’s prediction: Oakland wins.
