Betting on the New York Giants (-3)

The New York Football Giants moved one step closer toward clinching a playoff spot with their 17-6 win over the Detroit Lions on Sunday. In the victory, Eli Manning went 20-for-28 for 201 yards and threw a pair of touchdowns. The Giants have won seven of their last eight and are now 10-4 on the season.

It hasn’t been the most prolific year for Eli yards-wise – his 249.1 passing YPG this season is only fifth-most in his career – but considering this is their most number of wins in six years and their fastest 10-plus win season in eight years, he’ll take it.

Manning will look to have a more prolific passing game against Philadelphia. Remember, it was against the Eagles where he had his most passing TDs this season. During their Week 9 battle, where they beat their NFC East rivals, 28-23, Manning threw for four scores, two of which were to Odell Beckham Jr.

Speaking of the receiver, he’s continuing to reach great milestones. During Week 14, he was able to reach 3,864 receiving yards, the most by any NFL wideout’s first 40 games.

As for the defense, they’ve been the bigger star out of the team’s two units in the last eight outings. During that span, they have caused 18 turnovers and held six opponents to below 100 rushing yards, while also holding five QBs to a completion rate below 60 percent.

The G-Men are 3-3 on the road this season (2-2-2 ATS).

Betting on the Philadelphia Eagles (+3)

The Eagles suffered their ninth loss of the season Sunday, as the Ravens edged them out, 27-26. They are now 5-9 and out of playoff contention.

With the team just waiting for the season to end, they made an interesting call at the end of Sunday’s game. The coaches decided to go for two, which would’ve won the game, instead of kicking an extra point and play an OT period.

In their aforementioned previous meeting with their division rivals, the Giants, Carson Wentz struggled. The rookie only completed 22 of his 42 passes, got picked and sacked twice, and ended up with a 52.7 passer rating, his second-lowest of the season.

His backfield did give him some ample support, though, as the Eagles ran for 169 yards on 4.4 yards per carry along with two scores against a very good Ravens run defense.

Wentz obviously has to play better if they want to add a W in the win column, but the defense should too. The D-line has allowed three of their last five opponents to rush for 100-plus yards, two of which had 150 or more. One of them was the Ravens, who are 28th in the league in rushing.

Philly is 4-2 SU and ATS at home this season.

Writer’s Prediction
