Syndergaard is 5-1 with a 2.97 ERA in his starts this year. German picked up a loss in his last start, giving up six earned runs on six hits and issued four walks in only four innings of a 6-5 road loss to Cleveland on Jul. 13. German allowed three earned runs on five hits in six innings of a 4-3 win over the Mets on Jul. 9.

He surrendered three earned runs on eight hits in 6.1 innings of a 5-4 home loss to Washington on Jul. 12. Gray had a rare solid outing on Jul. 11 when he pitched six scoreless innings to go with eight strikeouts in a 9-0 road in Baltimore.

- Jose Bautista is 6-for-20 with a homer vs. Gray.

Pitching:
DeGrom returns from the All-Star break to look for his first win post the midseason rest. In his last regular season start, he tossed 8.0 scoreless innings with seven strikeouts in a 3-0 home win over Philly on Jul. 11. Tanaka has not allowed more than three earned runs in any of his last three starts. That includes a July 15 start in Cleveland wherein Tanaka yielded two earned runs on six hits in 6.1 innings on the mound. He is 0-0 with a 3.45 ERA in his last three starts.

- Giancarlo Stanton is 9-for-25 with four homers vs. deGrom.
- Jose Bautista is 10-for-39 with two homers vs. Tanaka.
