Jacob deGrom (7-5, 2.30 ERA) is dealing some nasty stuff lately. And he’ll be eyeing to extend his four-start stretch of allowing no more than an earned run when he takes the mound at AT&T Park later tonight.

DeGrom’s pitching was on point in his previous start, tossing seven innings of three-hit ball and allowing just one run while striking out nine in a 3-2 home win over San Diego. While he wasn’t able to get a W in that game, it’s worth noting that that deGrom is 1-0 with a rock solid 1.02 ERA in three starts this August. The Mets are 3-1 in deGrom’s last four road starts.

DeGrom will face a Giants’ offense that is currently last in the National League in runs and is batting just .244 since the All-Star break.

As for their own offense, the Mets are looking for more from Neil Walker and T.J. Rivera, who have hit .375 and .364, respectively, over the Mets’ last seven games. Jay Bruce and Curtis Granderson will have to do better, however, with both players combining for just 5-for-45 during the same stretch.

Betting on the San Francisco Giants (-160)

The situation has gone bad for San Francisco and the Giants could definitely use a win right now to jumpstart their campaign. The Giants are coming off a three-game series sweep at the hands of the Pirates, which was capped by a 6-5 loss on Wednesday.

Madison Bumgarner (11-7, 2.11 ERA) will look to rescue his floundering team when he gets the ball for Game 1 of this series against the Mets. Bumgarner was in typical Bumgarner form in his recent start, pitching seven scoreless innings and giving up just three hits while fanning eight in a 6-2 home win against Baltimore.

Bumgarner is undefeated in his career against the Mets, going 4-0 with a 1.03 ERA in five starts versus New York dating back to 2012. Also note that Bumgarner will be facing a Mets offense that is among the worst in batting against lefties.

Angel Pagan is batting nicely in the second hole of the lineup, going .381 with four doubles in his last six games. Leadoff hitter Denard Span, meanwhile, has the same .381 batting average during that stretch.

The Giants are 7-3 in Bumgarner’s last 10 home starts.
