Betting on the Ohio State Buckeyes (22-5)

The Buckeyes got the better of Michigan in the first meeting, as they scored a 71-62 win in Columbus back on Dec. 4. The Buckeyes were trailing by 13 at end of the first half in that game, but a 41-point explosion by Ohio State in the second half carried the team to a huge victory over John Beilein’s Wolverines. Keita Bates-Diop led the Buckeyes in that game with 18 points and nine rebounds, while C.J. Jackson came off the bench and fired 17 points.

Bates-Diop is one of the best players in the Big Ten, as he is leading the conference with 19.9 points while also ranking third in rebounding with 9.0 per game. It should also be not forgotten that Ohio State’s defense clicked in the second half of the first meeting with Michigan. The Buckeyes held the Wolverines to only 19 points after the half. The Buckeyes can do that to any team, as they are 26th in the nation with only 66.0 points per outing.

Ohio State is 3-0 SU and ATS in its last three meetings with Michigan.

Betting on the Michigan Wolverines (20-7)

Michigan is seeking revenge this Saturday, but the Wolverines are also looking to get one more win against a ranked opponent before the regular season concludes to boost their resume for March. That will serve as extra motivation for Michigan which is coming off back-to-back wins over Wisconsin and Iowa. Against Iowa on Wednesday, the Wolverines flashed their mighty fans on defense. The Hawkeyes scored just 59 points. Though they shot a respectable 48.1 percent from the field, they only attempted 52 shots.

The Wolverines are allowing only 63.5 points per game to opponents this season partly because they only let teams they face to get off only 52.6 shots per game –16th fewest in Division I basketball. Michigan likes to play in snail’s pace, ranking 341st in the nation in adjusted tempo per KenPom.

Michigan is 9-1 SU and 6-3-1 ATS in its last 10 games as the home team.

Writer’s Prediction:

Michigan wins, 73-75.
