Betting on the Ohio State Buckeyes (odds)
Record: 10-1 Overall / 8-0 Conference
Ohio State went nuclear last Saturday, as CJ Stroud and company exploded for nearly 60 points in a 56-7 home win over the Michigan State Spartans. Stroud was nearly flawless in that game, completing 32 of 35 passes for 432 passing yards and six touchdowns with zero interceptions. Meanwhile, Ohio State generated 206 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 43 total carries. But everyone knows what the Buckeyes’ offense is capable of. Perhaps a more important takeaway from the win against the Spartans is that Ohio State showed its defense is legit, as it held Michigan State to only 5/16 on third downs and to only 224 total yards from scrimmage. The Buckeyes stepped on the field against Michigan State ranked first in scoring offense with 46.3 points per game and 17th in scoring defense with 20.2 points allowed per contest.
Ohio State is 6-1 against the spread in its last seven games overall.
Betting on the Michigan Wolverines (odds)
Record: 10-0 Overall / 7-1 Conference
Michigan racked up its third win in a row by taking down the Maryland Terrapins on the road last Saturday, 59-18. The Wolverines’ defense has been holding up nicely since losing to the Spartans last October. Since then, the Wolverines have allowed just an average of 14 points. That’s saying a lot, considering they also faced the Penn State Nittany Lions on Nov. 13. Although it was mentioned earlier that the Buckeyes’ defense has proved itself to be elite, there’s still a chance for Michigan to expose Ohio State’s stop unit, especially on the ground. The Spartans rushed for just 21 times against Ohio State, mainly because of the game’s script, but Michigan has a more lethal run game than Michigan State. The Wolverines have a top-10 rushing attack in the nation and had just rushed for 151 yards and three touchdowns on 35 carries against the Terps.
Michigan is 5-1 against the spread in its last six games at home.
Writer’s Prediction
Ohio State wins, 37-28.
