The Ohio State Buckeyes remain undefeated after walloping the Maryland Terrapins over the weekend, and they will have yet another minnow to face this coming Saturday in the form of the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. This game could very well be just a tuneup game for Ohio State for a challenging late-season matchup with the Penn State Nittany Lions and the Michigan Wolverines. But hey, anything can happen in football.

Betting on the Ohio State Buckeyes (9-0 Overall / 6-0 Conference)
The Buckeyes were not going to be thrown off by an off-the-field issue that resulted in the suspension of star defensive end star Chase Young, as they dominated the Maryland Terrapins in Columbus last Saturday, 73-14. The Buckeyes didn’t really need Young at all to decimate the Terps, with Juston Fields and Ohio State’s rushing attack being more than enough to get the job done. Fields had 200 passing yards and three touchdowns with zero interceptions before letting the backups finish off Maryland, while Master Teague and J.K. Dobbins combined for 201 of the team’s 383 rushing yards. With an offense like that and and a defense that entered Week 11 tops in the nation with just 7.9 points allowed per game, it would take a miracle of biblical proportions for Ohio State to lose to the two-win Scarlet Knights. The challenge for the Buckeyes will be whether they will be able to cover the spread as massive favorites.
The Buckeyes are 4-0 against the spread (ATS) in their last four games as the favorites by at least 20 points.
Betting on the Rutgers Scarlet Knights (2-7 Overall / 0-6 Conference)
The Scarlet Knights will come into the showdown with Ohio State with the fresher sets of legs after taking a bye last week. Prior to that, they lost to the Illinois Fighting Illinois, 38-10. Before that game against Illinois, Rutgers scored a 44-34 win over the Liberty Flames at home on Oct. 26 to end a six-game losing skid. Rutgers quarterback Johnny Langan went 5 for 10 for 86 yard and a touchdown and threw an interception against the Fighting Illini. Rutgers don’t rely much on its passing attack, instead leaning on their run game to move the chains. The Scarlet Knights were 18th in the nation with a 60.81 rushing play percentage coming into Week 11, though, they were also just 90th overall with 137.3 rushing yards per contest prior to the meeting with Illinois. Isaih Pacheco leads the team with 541 rushing yards to go with six touchdowns, while Langan has 242 rushing yards and a pair of rushing scores.
Although the Scarlet Knights look like a deer in Ohio State’s headlights, they are 5-3 ATS in their last eight games as an underdog by at least 20 points.
Writer’s Prediction
Ohio State wins, 53-3.
