Betting on the Oklahoma Sooners (+3<)
Record: 10-1 Overall / 7-1 Conference
After getting their College Football Playoff dreams dashed by the Baylor Bears in Week 11’s 27-14 loss in Waco, the Sooners rebounded and scored a 28-21 win over the Iowa State Cyclones at home. Caleb Williams was once again the starter for the Sooners, and he passed for 87 yards and a touchdown with an interception on just 8/18 completions, though he added 67 rushing yards and a touchdown on 12 carries. Williams’ dual-threat ability will be a major key for the Sooners in solving the defense of the Cowboys. The Sooners are going to want more from their passing attack, so the likes of Marvin Mims, Mario Williams, and Jeremiah Hall are all expected to step up in the face of the Cowboys’ stout stop unit.
Oklahoma, which entered Week 12 with an average of 36.0 points per game, is 4-2 against the spread in their last six contests.
Betting on the Oklahoma State Cowboys (-3<)
Record: 10-1 Overall / 7-1 Conference
Oklahoma State is all about defense. Over the Cowboys’ last four games, they have allowed just a total of 23 points. The last time they were on the field, the Cowboys demolished the Texas Tech Red Raiders in Lubbock in a 23-0 win in Week 12. Oklahoma State limited the Red Raiders to only 108 total yards and a mere 10 total first downs. The Cowboys also controlled the ball for nearly 37 minutes. Dominating the possession battle will be a key for the Cowboys this coming Saturday against Caleb Williams and the Sooners. But even when the Sooners have the ball, the Cowboys’ pass rush should be all over Williams. The Cowboys lead the Big 12 in sacks by a mile. They entered Week 12 with 37.0 sacks and added five more in the Texas Tech game.
Oklahoma State is 9-1 against the spread in its last 10 games overall.
Writer’s Prediction
Oklahoma State wins, 28-23.
