Oregon Ducks – March Madness Team Predictions, Odds and Preview 2017

Oregon Ducks (Overall: 29-5, Conf: 16-2)

College Basketball News and Previews

Team Strengths:

The composition of players on Oregon’s roster has the feels of a championship team—or at least one that could go deep in the national tournament. Led by one of the best—and clutchiest—players in the nation, Dillon Brooks (16.0 PPG, 2.7 RPG, 2.9 APG), the Ducks will brave March featuring a number of players that has seen action in last year’s Elite Eigth.

More than experience and a clear go-to-guy in Brooks, the Ducks also features a scary interior defense, mostly built on the tandem of Chris Boucher and Jordan Bell, who combine for 4.7 of the team’s average of 6.7 blocks per game—second best in the nation. According to hoop-math, the Ducks block a staggering 21.7% of their opponents’ shots around the basket.

Team Weaknesses:

Oregon (+2,000) has struggled at the free throw line this season, as reflected by the Ducks’ 70.1% clip from the charity stripe. This is a definite point of concern for the Ducks, who might be involved in some tight contests in the tourney in which the difference between winning and losing is simply their performance from the foul line.

Team Stats:

Category Stat Rank
Points Per Game 78.8 46
Rebounds Per Game  36.0  136
Blocks Per Game 6.7 2
3-Point Percentage  38.3  43
Free Throw Percentage  70.1  178

Starting Lineup:

Position Name PPG
F  Jordan Bell 10.8
F  Dillon Brooks 16.0
G  Tyler Dorsey 12.4
G Dylan Ennis  10.9
F Chris Boucher  12.1

Writer’s Prediction:

Oregon (+2,000) reaches the Sweet 16 round.
