Call it magic. Orlando finally ended its lengthy eight-game skid on Sunday, when it beat Boston at home, 119-114. That victory should serve as a great confidence builder for the Magic, who are about to face longtime tormentor San Antonio later tonight.

Orlando had tremendous support from a lot of guys in the win against the Celtics with five Magic scoring in double figures. Evan Fournier led Orlando with 24 markers on 6-for-8 shooting in 23 minutes off the bench. Fournier and Orlando’s other dynamic guards are going to be key in beating San Antonio, as team is probably looking to push the pace against the much older Spurs later tonight.

Fournier has stepped up his play of late, as he’s averaged 15.6 points over the last five games, better than his season figure of 13.6. He’ll likely be coming off the bench later tonight to give Orlando’s second unit some semblance of a fight against San Antonio’s relievers that collectively puts up 41.9 PPG. Conversely, Orlando’s bench produces just 35.5 PPG.

It would also be a huge help for Orlando if Mario Hezonja manages to repeat his impressive performance in the win over the Celtics, wherein he poured in 17 points in 33 minutes. Hezonja’s averaging just 4.5 PPG, but has scored 30 points over the last three games.

The over is 3-0 in Orlando’s last three road games.

Speaking of which, the Magic are averaging 96.1 points on the road thus far this season.

Betting on the San Antonio Spurs (39-8)

Orlando Magic vs San Antonio Spurs Predictions, Picks and Preview

If the Spurs are looking for a punching bag to vent all of their frustrations following a 117-103 loss to Cleveland on Saturday, then they appear to be getting one later tonight in the form of Orlando. After all, San Antonio is 8-0 in its previous eight meetings with the Magic.

After a 13-game win streak, the Spurs have gone 1-2 SU over their last three games with losses to title contenders Golden State and Cleveland.

The Spurs were largely doomed in the Cleveland game by their lousy glass work, as they were outrebounded by the Cavs, 43-32. The Spurs are registering 44.8 rebounds per game on the season, but averaged just 39.7 over their past three outings.

That said, San Antonio should be able to dominate the boards and score lots of points in the paint later tonight against Orlando’s slim frontcourt that only boasts of Nikola Vucevic and a couple of nobodies in Jason Smith and Dewayne Dedmon in the center position.

Even with Tim Duncan ruled out for the contest with a knee injury, LaMarcus Aldridge, David West, and Boris Diaw appear enough for the Spurs to establish their presence inside. Aldridge scored 15 points on 7-for-11 shooting against the Cavs but grabbed just two rebounds. He’s in line to do better against Orlando, which has allowed 56.4 points in the paint over its last five games—the most in the league during that stretch.
