Betting on the Ottawa Redblacks (3-2)
Ottawa heads into Saturday’s match against Hamilton looking for consistency. They have alternated wins and losses this season, and have not won two games in a row. They can change the narrative, as they face the Tiger Cats following a thrilling 29-25 win over the BC Lions last week. Redblacks signal-caller Trevor Harris lit up the air against Hamilton, torching the Tiger Cats’ pass defense with 363 passing yards and a touchdown on 30-for-44 pass completions. Harris’ solid play under center also allowed Ottawa to catch Hamilton’s defense leaving its hands down against the run, as the Redblacks scored a touchdown on the ground despite totaling just 67 rushing yards. Harris is fourth in the CFL with 1,278 passing yards. Ottawa has covered the spread in 11 of its last 13 games away from home. The Redblacks are also 4-1 ATS in their last five games in Hamilton.
Betting on the Hamilton Tiger Cats (2-3)
At last, Hamilton quarterback Jeremiah Masoli will no longer to play looking at Johnny Manziel at the rearview mirror after the Tiger Cats traded the former Cleveland Browns quarterback to Montreal. Masoli performed shaky under center last week, completing 20-for-28 passes with zero touchdowns and an interception. Ottawa is second in the league in scoring defense, so Masoli will have to be more careful yet more quick to decide on what to do with the ball this Saturday. Masoli has the second-most interceptions thrown in the league with five, but he’s also leading the most prolific passing attack in the CFL. Hamilton paces all teams with 1,648 passing yards to date. Conversely, Hamilton will also look to make Harris pay whenever he trips up. The Redblacks’ quarterback is third in the CFL with four interceptions. Hamilton is 7-3 ATS in its last 10 games overall.
Writer’s Prediction
Ottawa wins, 24-21.
