It’s a battle between two teams heading towards opposite directions this coming Thursday in Toronto on Week 8 of the 2018 CFL season. Betting on the Ottawa Redblacks  (4-2)

The Redblacks are coming off back-to-back wins after downing the struggling BC Lions at home in Week 6, 29-25, and followed that win up with a 21-15 road victory over Hamilton in Week 7. The Redblacks relied on their defense and on the legs of kicker Lewis Ward against the Tigers. The rookie kicker connected on each of his seven field goal attempts in the win over Hamilton to make up for the silence of both of Ottawa’s passing and ground attacks. Quarterback Trevor Harris completed 23 of 35 passes for 228 yards with zero touchdowns and without an interception. Running back William Powell, meanwhile, had 47 yards on 15 rushing attempts. Ottawa is second in the league in total scoring defense with 126 points allowed thus far this season. The team also leads all CFL teams in pass knockdowns with 21.

The Redblacks also have a sweet 12-2 ATS record in their last 14 road games.

Betting on the Toronto Argonauts (1-5)

The Argonauts still have not discovered their way out of a dark tunnel, as they suffered their third-straight loss last week in an embarrassing 40-14 loss in Winnipeg. Toronto has been outscored by a wide margin over their last two games, 78-34. Both games were against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, so perhaps a new opponent will be a welcome sight for Toronto, which has won nine of its last 10 home games against the Redblacks. In last week’s meeting with Winnipeg, the Argonauts muscled out more yards than their opponents, 369-366, but also had four more turnovers, 5-1, which negated most of what they did right on offense.

Toronto is currently seventh in the league in total points with just 95 and last in passing touchdowns with only two.

Writer’s Prediction

Ottawa wins, 34-17
