Betting on the Penn State Nittany Lions (odds)
Record: 12-5 Overall/3-3 Conference
With Seth Lundy and Andrew Funk punishing the defense of the Indiana Hoosiers, Penn State managed to end a two-game losing skid in an 85-66 home win. Lundy led the way for the Nittany Lions with 25 points, while Funk had 23. Jalen Pickett also chipped in 12 points to go with five rebounds and eight assists. Pickett is the team’s leading scorer this season, but Lundy and Funk are also high-usage players for Penn State, which is thriving with its slow pace. Ranked just 285th in the nation in adjusted tempo, Penn State is a team that doesn’t give the ball away often. In fact, the Nittany Lions are No. 1 in the nation with just a 12.8 percent turnover rate and eighth in non-steal turnover rate (6.5%). And when they have the ball, they often find a way to score, as evidenced by the fact that they’re No. 2 in the Big Ten with 109.4 points per 100 possessions when up against their rivals in the conference.
The Over is 4-0 in Penn State’s last four games overall.
Betting on the Wisconsin Badgers (odds)
Record: 11-5 Overall/3-3 Conference
Wisconsin is on a tailspin., After winning their first three games against Big Ten teams in conference play, the Badgers have now lost all their last three outings. They just couldn’t put together a solid performance on both ends of the floor in the same game of late, so they will just have to try executing the way they want to when they take on Penn State at home. In their last game, the Badgers lost to the Hoosiers in Bloomington, 63-45. Perhaps Penn State’s leaky defense will be just what the doctor ordered for the Badgers, who also love to play at a deliberate pace. Penn State is just 12th in the Big Ten with 109.4 points per 100 possessions versus teams in the said conference.
Wisconsin is 9-1 straight up and 6-4 against the spread in its last 10 games versus the Nittany Lions.
Writer’s Prediction
Wisconsin wins, 66-63.
