A major tournament is up next in the PGA TOUR. This week, the best of the best in the world of golf will come down to the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island in South Carolina to compete in the 2021 PGA Championship, and of course, to vie for the salivating money prize for the winner which is worth $1.98 million. All past winners of the PGA Championship automatically qualify for this event, so players like Brooks Koepka, Jason Day, Justin Thomas, Rory McIlroy, and Collin Morikawa are all expected to be out there.
There will be no jump in the amount of the total purse at the PGA Championship for the fourth year in a row. The last time this tournament got a bump was in 2017, when the prize for the winner went from $1.8 million a year before to $1.89 million. Nevertheless, this is still a lucrative tournament, not to mention, prestigious. Collin Morikawa is the defending champion of this tourney, having bested the field by a couple of strokes last year at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco, California. With that win, Morikawa prevented a three-peat by Brooks Koepka, who won in each of the previous two stagings of the PGA Championship.
