FAVORITES

Rory McIlroy (+1100)

With 2,104 FedExCup points, McIlroy is very likely to make the next round of the playoffs. Plus, he’s been hot for the most part of the season, even rounding out the regular campaign with four consecutive T20s, three of which were finishes inside the top 5, which includes his win at the 2022 RBC Canadian Open and a solo-third place at the 2022 Open Championship. McIlroy also has two top 10s and three top 25s in five career starts at TPC Southwind.

Scottie Scheffler (+1600)

With the body of work Scheffler has put up this season, there’s no wonder he is on top of everyone else in the standings with 3,556 points. In fact, he is the only one in the field with more than 2,400 points. With four wins and nine top 10s, Scheffler comes across as the man to beat in the playoffs. In four starts at TPC Southwind, Scheffler has gone 3 of 4 with two top 25s.

Justin Thomas (+1600)

Thomas enters the playoffs eighth in the standings with 1,783 points, thanks to his win at the 2022 PGA Championship and a total of nine top 10s and 16 made cuts across 18 starts. He’s well rested having not played since finishing with a T53 at the 2022 Open Championship. Perhaps more importantly, Thomas knows what it’s like to triumph at TPC Southwind, having won there the 2020 World Golf Championships-FedEx St. Jude Invitational.

HIGH-VALUE SLEEPERS

Billy Horschel (+5000)

Here’s what we said about Horschel in our 2022 FedEx St. Jude Championship sleepers preview:

Ranked 18th overall in the standings with odds of +5000 to win this week, Horschel appears to offer some nice value for those looking for a sleeper to lay money on. Horschel missed the cut at the 2022 Genesis Scottish Open but has rebounded well, with a T21 at the 2022 Open Championship before flying back home and finishing with a T27 at the 2022 Wyndham Championship. Horschel, the winner of the 2022 Memorial Tournament presented by Workday, has five top 10s this season. Moreover, he is 9 of 11 in his career at TPC Southwind.

Max Homa (+5500)

Here’s what we said about Homa in our 2022 FedEx St. Jude Championship sleepers preview:

Somehow, Homa has longer odds to win the 2022 FedEx St. Jude Championship than Horschel, even though PGA’s social media star has two wins this season and 1,625 FedExCup points, good for 13th overall. Perhaps it’s because he has zero top 10s and no top 25s even in five starts at TPC Southwind. Still, Homa is a perfect 5 of 5 there in his career.

LONG SHOTS

Chad Ramey (+50000)

Ramey makes the cut for the playoffs with 568 points, good for 80th place, though he was 74th overall a week before. He has been cut in both of his lst two starts, but has a win at the 2022 Corales Puntacana Championship – on his two top 10s this season.

Danny Lee (+50000)

After a T10 at the 2022 RBC Canadian Open, Lee had a missed cut at the 2022 US Open and withdrew from the 2022 Travelers Championship. However, he has three top 10s this season, including a T2 at the 2021 Butterfield Bermuda Championship which was followed by a T7 at the 2021 World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba.

Writer’s Prediction

Scottie Scheffler wins the 2022 FedEx St. Jude Championship.
