PGA Tour Money Rankings, Earnings, and List This Week – March 28 – April 3, 2016

As the first quarter of 2016 comes to a close, it has become very clear that a pair of Aussies have ruled the greens of the actual courses and those sweet dollar bills alike.

Adam Scott and Jason Day are the year’s top money-makers to date, proving that there’s nothing “Down” or “Under” about their performances of late. Some of the PGA Tour’s bigger names are also starting to make waves, and you can see all of those latest developments in the Tour’s updated money leaderboard below.

And while we eagerly await for The Masters to tee-off in a couple of weeks’ time, check out our complete preview, sleeper picks and expert predictions features for the 2016 Shell Houston Open right after this to whet your appetite before all the epic action at Augusta that has yet to come.

Updated PGA Tour Money Rankings

Back-to-back wins at PGA National and Doral gave Adam Scott a comfortable lead atop the PGA Tour’s money leaderboard at the start of this month. However, that was until fellow Aussie Jason Day strung two-straight victories of his own at Bay Hill and Austin before March’s end to put pressure on Scott as the king of the PGA’s money-making hill.

With the most recent and spectacular win at the WGC-Match Play this past weekend, Day reclaimed the No. 1 spot in the Official World Golf Rankings, and it probably won’t be long before he finds himself atop the money leaderboard if he keeps up his stellar form. That’s also if Scott’s demons from his lackluster 2015 come back to haunt him soon, much like what we’ve seen from his rather subpar showing at Austin.

What about the Tour’s 22-year-old phenom, Jordan Spieth? He lost the distinction as the world’s best golfer to Day this week, and has yet to crack the top 10 of the money rankings this season. Considering that he’s had solid outings to say the least at the Houston Open (P2) and at The Masters (win) last year, now’s the time of the year for Spieth to get into high gear and show exactly what made him such a media darling in 2015.

But watch out, because perennial contenders Rory McIlroy and Louis Oosthuizen made huge strides in the money leaderboard from their fantastic finishes at Austin this past weekend as well. Oosthuizen’s runner-up finish once again proved why the South African’s such a tough out at any given event, while McIlroy’s fourth-place finish is yet another fantastic sign that the World No. 3’s A-game has returned without a hitch.

The year’s first major tournament is on the horizon, and you can expect the PGA’s money-maker list to undergo even more power-shifting at the dawn of April. As such, keep a keen eye on all the compelling action at the Golf Club of Houston this week, where Spieth and a bevy of other top-tier golfers have one last shot to leave a great impression leading up to the festivities at Augusta.
