Betting on the Philadelphia Eagles (1-2)
It’s not yet time to hit the panic button for the Eagles, but there’ nothing comforting for them after starting the season with a 1-2 SU record. In their last game, the Eagles fell prey to the Detroit Lions on the road, 27-24. Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz passed for 259 yards and two touchdowns with zero interceptions on 19 of 36 completions. Rookie running back had a standout performance, leading the team in both rushing yards and receiving yards, with 53 and 73 gained, respectively. Veteran tailback. The Eagles are banged up with the likes of Corey Clement, Alshon Jeffery, and DeSean Jackson all dealing with injuries, but Wentz has some weapons to go around with still. Nelson Agholor capitalized on the extra attention he got from Wentz and had 50 receiving yards and two touchdown catches on eight receptions and 12 targets. The Eagles, however, might have to rush the ball more against a stout Packers defense against the pass. The Packers are just also 25th in the league with 131.0 rushing yards allowed per game.
The Eagles are 4-1 against the spread (ATS) in their last five road games.
Betting on the Green Bay Packers (3-0)
The Packers kept their record clean with a third-straight win on Sunday, taking down the Denver Broncos at Lambeau Field, 27-16. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers didn’t need to have a prolific day to tow the Packers to a win, as he tossed for 235 passing yards and a touchdown on 17 of 29 completions. Running back Aaron Jones had a pair of rushing touchdowns on 10 carries, while wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling led the team with 99 receiving yards and a touchdown on six carries. Green Bay fed off its incredible defense that continues to impress this season with its marked improvement, especially against the pass. The Packers laid out Denver QB Joe Flacco six times that resulted in a loss of 52 yards for the Broncos nad held their opponents to just 161 passing yards while also forcing three turnovers. The Packers will be looking to pounce on the Eagles’ porous offensive line that just allowed three sacks to the Lions. The Packers are tied for second in the league with 12 sacks on the season thus far.
The Packers are 3-1 ATS in their last four home games.
Writer’s Prediction
The Packers win, 27-21.
