The Pittsburgh Steelers and the Los Angeles Chargers are both struggling to find stability and consistency due to injuries and other issues. But one of them will walk away with a win (save for a tie of course) this coming Sunday in a meeting in Carson. The Steelers are +1500 to win the AFC North, while the Chargers are +800 to win the AFC West.

Betting on the Pittsburgh Steelers (1-4)
The football gods are not done punishing the Steelers at the quarterback slot, as they are likely down to their third-string signal-caller at the position following Mason Rudolph’s designation to the league’s concussion protocol. There’s still a chance for Rudolph to play on Sunday, but chances are that the Steelers are going to go with undrafted free agent Devlin Hodgers. If so, James Conner will have increased load in the backfield running the ball, as it makes sense for Pittsburgh to go run-heavy than let an unproven QB air it out in his first start in the pros. Aside from that, the Steelers can have success on the ground in Week 6, considering that the Chargers just gave up 114 rushing yards and a touchdown to Denver Broncos second-year quarterback Phillip Lindsay last Sunday. On the season, Conner has rushed for 194 yards and two touchdowns on 58 carries. He also has 153 receiving yards and a touchdown on 19 receptions.
The Steelers, who lost to the Baltimore Ravens at home last week, have seen the total go under in seven of their last 10 road games.
Betting on the Los Angeles Chargers (2-3)
The Chargers became the first victim of the Broncos this season, as Philip Rivers and the Bolts suffered a 20-13 home loss last week to their divisional rivals. Rivers was not in his element in that game, as he passed for just 211 yards and two interceptions with zero touchdowns on 32-of-48 completions. The Broncos’ defense kept its focus on Rivers, with the Chargers’ run game not doing anything to get attention. In his first game back from a hold out, running back Melvin Gordon only had 31 rushing yards on 12 carries. The hope for the Chargers is that another week of practice will be enough for Gordon to get fully assimilated to the atmosphere of the NFL. The Steelers could just be the right opponent to help him have pick-me-up performance, as Pittsburgh is just 21st in the league with 125.8 rushing yards per game allowed. On defense, the Chargers will face a Steelers’ offense that has dropped in quality following the loss of Ben Roethlisberger.
The Chargers are 5-5 straight up (SU) in their last 10 home games.
Writer’s Prediction
The Chargers win, 25-20.
