Betting on the Purdue Boilermakers (+16.0)

Record: 8-4 Overall/6-3 Conference

Everybody’s going to be high on Michigan for this game, but Purdue should have more than just a puncher’s chance to pull off an upset. The Boilermakers are on a three-game win streak and have won seven of their last nine games, which includes a victory over the then-No. 21 Illinois Fighting Illini on the road on Nov. 12. In their last game, the Boilermakers trounced the Indiana Hoosiers in Bloomington, 30-16. Purdue’s passing attack can’t be slept on. The Boilermakers started Week 13 ranked 20th in the nation with 278.0 passing yards per game and sixth with 43.3 passes per contest. Even though they’re pass-heavy, the Boilermakers are top-15 in the nation in terms of time of possession.

The Under is 3-1 in Purdue’s last four games.

Betting on the Michigan Wolverines (-16.0)

Record: 12-0 Overall/9-0 Conference

Without a doubt, Michigan is the overpowering favorite to win the Big Ten Championship Game. The Wolverines just preserved their immaculate record by crushing the No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes in Columbus, no less, in Week 13 to the tune of a 45-23 score. Michigan is top five in both scoring offense and scoring defense and they clearly cleared doubts with the way they dominated Ohio State on the road. JJ McCarthy passed for 263 yards and three touchdowns on 12/24 completions, while Donovan Edwards had an incredible output of 216 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries. Cornelius Johnson finished with 160 receiving yards and two touchdowns on just four receptions. Michigan barely played its best running back, Blake Corum, who only had two touches out of the backfield, but the Wolverines still got the job done against a legitimate national title contender. Things should be easier for the Wolverines against the Boilermakers.

Michigan is 3-1 against the spread in its last four games overall.

Writer’s Prediction

Michigan wins, 41-13.
