Betting on Roger Federer (-600)
Federer is having yet another dominant run in this year’s Wimbledon. The Swiss master has won in straight sets in all three of his matches after advancing from the first round due to his opponent’s retirement.
Federer is coming off his best performance of the tournament in a 6-4, 6-2, 6-4 win over Grigor Dimitrov in the round of 16. Federer’s service game was on point as he put 69 percent of his first serves in play, and also won 74 percent of his second serves. He also continued to avoid making any mistakes. He’s committed a total of just 33 unforced errors in his last three matches.
The 35-year-old will face his toughest test to date with World No. 7 Milos Raonic. Federer, though, is a perfect 7-0 this season against top-10 ranked players, and holds a 9-3 edge in their 12 career head-to-heads against the Canadian.
Betting on Milos Raonic (+400)
Raonic survived a big scare in the last round against rising star Alexander Zverev. The Canadian twice needed to come back from a set down and committed 42 unforced errors, but he eventually outlasted the 20-year old in five sets.
It’s been a slightly underwhelming tournament thus far for the 2016 Wimbledon finalist Raonic. He’s already dropped three sets in four matches, and has also gone into four tiebreaks. However, his service game remains a terrific weapon. He’s hit at least 20 aces, put at least 65 percent of first serves in play, and won at least 76 percent of his first serves in all four matches.
Raonic’s power will be a massive threat to end Federer’s run in Wimbledon. That’s exactly what he did last year when he knocked the great Swiss out in the semifinals after a grueling five-set war.
Raonic is one of the few players on tour to actually start a winning streak over Federer. He also beat him in straight sets in the final at Brisbane back in 2016.
Writer’s Prediction
Federer (-600) gets his revenge on Raonic as he ousts the Canadian to reach the semifinals of Wimbledon.
