Betting on the Sacramento Kings (23-32)
Point Spread: +1
Sacramento improved by five spots in ESPN’s weekly power rankings after booking its third-consecutive victory on Sunday night, when they dispatched Anthony Davis and the visiting Pelicans, 105-99.
DeMarcus Cousins and Darren Collison led the Kings with 28 and 20 points, respectively, including 14 rebounds and seven assists by the former. But Boogie earned his 17th technical foul of the season in that game, and another one automatically leads to another suspension for him.
Cousins is one of only three players in the NBA averaging at least 20 points, 10 rebounds and five assists since the start of the New Year. He’s also posting 29.5 points, 13.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists in the first two meetings with the Lakers this season—both of which were won by the Kings, who are desperately hoping that their franchise center to keep his mouth shut when the calls do go their way.
The Kings are 4-6 SU and 6-4 ATS in their last 10 road games.
Betting on the Los Angeles Lakers (19-37)
Point Spread: -1
Everybody knows LA can score in bunches on certain games, like during Friday night’s 122-14 win in Milwaukee where the Purple and Gold put up 47 points in the first period to equal the most points scored in any quarter this season.
Nick Young went 8-for-11 from the field, finishing with a team-leading 26 points and drained five three-pointers; a game-high. Lou Williams and Ivica Zubac, meanwhile, powered the best scoring bench in the league with 21 and 15 points respectively, helping the Lakers earn their second win in three games.
They head back home tonight against the Kings, whom Los Angeles has yet to beat in two meetings—both at Sacramento—this season. The Lakers usually thrive offensively at home, averaging nearly 110 points per contest. However, they’re still a huge liability on defense—an area where Luke Walton’s group ranks 27th in points allowed and 29th in efficiency.
Los Angeles is 5-5 SU and ATS in its previous 10 games at the Staples Center.
