Betting on the San Francisco Dons (odds)
Record: 15-11 Overall/4-7 Conference
San Francisco is on a slump, as it lost two in a row heading into the rematch versus the Bulldogs. The Dons lost to the Santa Clara Broncos last Saturday at home, 83-70, but not without Khalil Shabazz putting on a show. The senior guard dropped 31 points in the Santa Clara game to continue his hot stretch. He has scored at least 16 points in each of his last four games and at least 21 points in three outings over the same span. In San Francisco’s 77-75 home loss to the Bulldogs last January, Shabazz had 17 points, while his backcourt partner Tyrell Roberts had 18.
San Francisco, which hit 10 3-pointers in the loss to the Bulldogs, is third in the WCC with a 38.0 percent shooting from deep this season against league competition.
Betting on the Gonzaga Bulldogs (odds)
Record: 19-5 Overall/8-2 Conference
Gonzaga fell apart again last Saturday in a 78-70 overtime loss to the Saint Mary’s Gaels. The Bulldogs have now lost two of their last five games. Despite the loss, big man Drew Timme shined for Gonzaga, as he finished with 23 points while shooting 8/14 from the floor to go with five rebounds. Timme is leading Gonzaga this season with 21.2 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. Gonzaga’s offense, while not as deadly as it used to be in recent years, is still tough to contain. It is averaging 84.2 points per game – the highest in the nation, so far this season. It is also third with a 57.2 effective field goal percentage.
Gonzaga is 2-1 against the spread in its last three games.
Writer’s Prediction
Gonzaga wins, 83-76.
