Betting on the Gonzaga Bulldogs (-17.5)
Record: 16-4 Overall/5-1 Conference
Gonzaga just got embarrassed on Thursday in a 68-67 home loss to the unranked Loyola Marymount Lions. That was the Bulldogs’ first loss in West Coast Conference play. That being said, that’s not enough for bettors to worry so much about Gonzaga’s chances to win and destroy the Tigers this weekend. The gap between Loyola Marymount and Pacific, with the Tigers being just a sub-220 KenPom team. Loyola Marymount was 94th when it took down the Bulldogs. In other words, Drew Timme and the Bulldogs should be fine this Saturday, and you can expect them to have their way on offense against Pacific which is only 269th in adjusted defensive rating in the nation.
Gonzaga is 3-1 against the spread in its last four games overall.
Betting on the Pacific Tigers (+17.5)
Record: 10-11 Overall/3-3 Conference
Pacific is coming off consecutive losses to the Santa Clara Broncos at home (92-81) and to the San Francisco Dons (78-57) on the road. On paper, the Tigers just seem to be remotely good enough to expect to beat a team like Gonzaga. But covering the spread is a much bigger possibility for Pacific. Also take note that the Tigers defeated Gonzaga conqueror Loyola Marymount last December at home to the tune of a 78-72 score. Pacific is led in scoring by guard Keylan Boone, who is averaging 11.7 points. The Tigers also have sniper Luke Avdalovic, who is No. 1 in the nation with a 55.9 3FG%, knocking down 46 of 81 3-pointer attempts this season, thus far.
Pacific is 3-2 against the spread in its last five games overall.
Writer’s Prediction
