Betting on the Seattle Seahawks (8-4)
If the season ended today the Seattle Seahawks would be in the playoffs as a five seed, but there isn’t much room for error, and the Seahawks have to treat this game like a must win. They come into this game with an 8-4 record, but with such a competitive NFC their might be a ten win team who misses out on the playoffs.
The Seahawks had their biggest win in their last game. The defense that has all kinds of injuries, stepped up in a big way against the Philadelphia Eagles, a team who some believe should be a favorite to make the Super Bowl. They held them to only 10 points, and the offense made key plays when they needed them on the way to a 24-10 victory. Since the defense struggled against the Falcons they have stepped up and been the difference in the last two games.
In this game though the difference is going to need to be on the offensive side of the ball. The Jaguars have one of the best defenses in the league, and create a lot of turnovers. To start in this game the Seahawks need to get some kind of running game going. That should take off some of the pressure of Russell Wilson, and the passing offense. If the offense can’t get the running game going though it’s going to put too much pressure on Wilson and the Jaguars defense will be able to tee off.
Betting on the Jacksonville Jaguars(8-4)
On the other side of this match up is the Jacksonville Jaguars who have also had a really nice season, but the offense still seems to have question marks. They come into this game having won five of the last six games, but their loss was a bad one getting beat by the Arizona Cardinals.
In their last game the Jaguars took advantage of a bad Indianapolis Colts. The offense got rolling against a terrible Colts secondary and that led to a 30-10 victory. For this team it’s all about the defense. They come into this game giving up only 14.8 points and 282 yards per game. In the game against the Colts Blake Bortles had his best game of the season. He threw for 309 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions.
To win this game the defense is going to need to be good, but the offense is also going to need to find a way to get going. I am guessing the Jaguars aren’t going to shutdown Wilson, so the offense is going to need to find a way to get going.
Writer’s Prediction
I think the Seahawks are going to ride the big win over the Eagles for success in this game. I think the Jaguars defense won’t be as good as it’s been all year, and Wilson and the Seahawks offense will find a way to take advantage. The Seahawks will win this game straight up. Pick: Seahawks (+2.5)
