The Buccaneers are headed to the playoffs after beating the Carolina Panthers in Week 17 at home, 24-20. Tom Brady came up with a huge performance in that game, exploding for 432 passing yards and three touchdowns without an interception on 34/45 completions. He got a ton of help from wide receiver Mike Evans, who recorded 207 receiving yards and three touchdowns on 10 catches and 12 targets. While the Bucs’ spot in the playoffs is now safe, they definitely would love to sustain their momentum heading into the postseason by beating Atlanta for the second time this season. Tampa Bay took down the Falcons back in Week 5 at home, 21-15.
The Buccaneers are 5-2 against the spread in their last seven January games.
Betting on the Atlanta Falcons (-3.0)
Regular Season Record: 6-10
The Falcons finally stopped their skid. After losing four games in a row, Atlanta scored a 20-19 home win over the Arizona Cardinals in Week 17. Rookie quarterback Desmond Ridder is still a work in progress, but he could find success against perhaps a more-relaxed Tampa Bay side. There’s also rookie running back Tyler Allgeier, who rushed for 83 yards and a touchdown in the Arizona game. There’s a bit of mystery for Tampa when it comes to Ridder, as he did not see action in the first meeting with the Buccaneers, with the Falcons still being quarterbacked by Marcus Mariota at that time.
The Under is 5-0 in the Falcons’ last five games overall.
Writer’s Prediction
The Buccaneers win, 24-17.
