Tennessee Titans vs Philadelphia Eagles Predictions, Picks, Odds, and Betting Preview – NFL Preseason Week 1 – August 8 2019

The Tennessee Titans (+700 to win the AFC South) are entering a highly-intriguing season. It would be quarterback Marcus Mariota’s last season on his current contract. The same is true for running back Derrick Henry. If they eventually move on from the two, then these preseason games could be a window to their future. The Philadelphia Eagles(+1500 to win Super Bowl 54) are set with Carson Wentz but will have plenty of trimming around the edges done before the regular season, and these preseasons games will help them in making decisions.

Betting on Tennessee Titans (0-0)

Marcus Mariota remains as the man under center for the Titans, but his presence didn’t stop Tennessee from getting another quarterback in the offseason, as the team traded for former Miami Dolphins starter Ryan Tannehill, who’s going to be the insurance behind the Hawaiian gunslinger. Mariota has been a brittle asset for the Titans, so Tannehill acts as a solid backup over what they had a year ago in Blaine Gabbert. We’re not expecting Mariota to suit up against the Eagles on Friday, and the same can be true for Tannehill. Logan Woodside is likely to receive the most playing time under center in Week 1 of the preseason, and he’ll have rookies alongside him on offense like guard Nate DavisNate Guar, tackle AT Hall and wide receivers Papi White and Anthony Ratliff-Williams. Tennessee will also be finally getting a look at rookie safety Amani Hooker playing in his first competitive setting. Wide receiver and second-round pick AJ Brown is reportedly not practicing due to a leg injury, so keep an eye out on his status heading into the matchup with Philly.

The under is 2-0 in the Titans’ last two preseason games.

Betting on Philadelphia Eagles (0-0)

What’s going to happen to the Eagles now that their lucky charm and Super Bowl hero Nick Foles is no longer in the City of Brotherly Love? Well, the Eagles still have Carson Wentz, and they just need him to be healthy. Playing Wentz in a preseason game isn’t part of the plan, though, so the Eagles will have Nate Sudfield, Clayton Thorson, and Cody Kessler taking care of the team’s passing attack against Tennessee. Thorson was drafted by Philadelphia this year, and he’s described by some scouts as an intelligent passer with a mix of athletic abilities. Also watch out for rookie running back Miles Sanders, who could end up being the Eagles’ starting running back. Jordan Howard is currently the top option in the backfield for Philadelphia, but Sanders can push him off that spot, especially if he can stitch together a series of solid performances in the preseason.

The Eagles are 9-1 against the spread (ATS) in their last 10 preseason games as the home team.

Writer’s Prediction

Eagles win, 28-24.
