Betting on the Dallas Cowboys (-9.5)
Regular Season Record: 11-4
The Cowboys are coming off a sensational 40-34 win over the Philadelphia Eagles last Saturday at home, largely thanks to Dak Prescott’s resiliency. Prescott got picked in the first Cowboys drive of the game but managed to turn things around and finish with 347 passing yards and three touchdowns on 27/35 completions. Wide receiver CeeDee Lamb blew up for 120 receiving yards and two touchdowns on 10 catches/11 targets in that game for the Cowboys, who are averaging 28.9 points per game, so far this season. Given Tennessee’s banged-up secondary and pass defense that is second-worst in the league against the pass, Prescott and the Cowboys are looking primed for another explosive performance through the air in Week 17.
The Over is 5-0 in the Cowboys’ last five games overall.
Betting on the Tennessee Titans (+9.5)
Regular Season Record: 7-8
The Titans are now on a five-game losing skid after suffering a 19-14 home loss to the Houston Texans last Saturday. With Ryan Tannehill not expected to play at least for the remainder of the regular season due to an injury, the Titans likely will continue rolling with rookie Malik Willis, though, that’s hardly a comforting thought for Tennessee, as the first-year quarterback clearly has long ways to go before becoming a reliable signal-caller in the pros. In any case, the Titans will ride and die with what running back Derrick Henry could do. Henry had 126 rushing yards and a touchdown in the Texans game on 23 carries. He should have success versus Dallas’ defense which is allowing 4.5 yards per rushing attempt.
The Titans are 5-5 against the spread in their last 10 home games.
Writer’s Prediction
The Broncos win, 27-13.
