Betting on the Kentucky Wildcats (17-6)

Kentucky edged the Aggies the first time the two teams met on Jan. 9. The Wildcats won that game, 74-73, thanks to their balanced offense that had four of their starters scoring at least 15 points. Hamidou Diallo led Kentucky in that game with 18 points, while PJ Washington and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had 16 points apiece. Kentucky , which puts up 76.8 points per game, will be leaning on their backcourt tandem of Diallo and Gilgeous-Alexander, but Kevin Knox, of course, should not be taken out of the equation. Knox leads the Wildcats with 15.1 points per game to go with 5.7 rebounds. The 6-foo-9 forward Knox also has a deft touch from the outside, as he is leads the Wildcats with 36 three-pointers. As for their defense, Kentucky is 103rd in the nation with 70.3 points allowed per game with opponents shooting only 40.7 percent against them.

The Wildcats are 7-3 SU and 5-5 ATS in their last 10 games away from Lexington.

Betting on the Texas A&M Aggies (15-8)

Texas A&M fell short of bearing Texas A&M the first time around, but perhaps a game in College Station would be the advantage that would spell the difference for the Aggies. The Aggies have won all of their last four home games, and covered the spread in three of those contests. That stretch includes their dominant wins over Arkansas (80-66) and South Carolina (83-60) last week. Their defense has to work against Kentucky this Saturday. Texas A&M is giving up only 67.5 points per game, but it gave too many fouls to Kentucky, which went to the foul line 34 times and made 22 free throw shots. Playing a more honest defense seems to be the key here for the Aggies, who are committing 16.1 personal fouls per game. They had 25 versus the Wildcats.

Writer’s Prediction:

Texas A&M wins, 75-71.
